The Cabins at River's Edge are more than just a quiet getaway. Surrounding these mountain homes are a wealth of things to do and see, with places to eat, shop, explore, fish, and a host of other activities only available to Blue Ridge residents and tourists. All are close by - just a short 30-45 minute scenic drive along beautiful country roads. Whether you like to taste the country cuisine, stroll along small town avenues for window and antiques shopping, or are looking for an outdoor adventure, you'll never run out of neat things to do if the mood strikes you. Ashe County Chamber of Commerce - Ashe County encompasses a large area around the cabins. However, most of the activities you will find on this website center in West Jefferson, a cozy little town with plenty of interesting things to do and see. There is a little bit of everything you need, in addition to a Wal-Mart for any personal items you may need during your stay.

Blowing Rock Visitor's Guide - A town well suited for a day of shopping, it contains a variety of restaurants, bookstores, boutiques, art galleries, and other specialty stores. However, Blowing Rock is also a great place for family style events, so be sure to check the Recreations tab for more information on family friendly activities.

Boone Chamber of Commerce - Centered around Appalachian State University, Boone is one of the larger Blue Ridge towns. Full of culture, it is a great place to visit if you need a sip of the city during your stay. Not to worry though, Boone is proud of its scenic incorporation of the mountain's beauty into its design. You will surely find an eclectic mix of the arts, business, education, and recreation should you choose to visit.

The Virginia Creeper - Rich in scenic beauty and regional history, the Virginia Creeper is a 35 mile long biking trail that runs between Abingdon, Virginia and Whitetop, North Carolina. There are several stops along the way, giving you the opportunity to select the distance you would like to ride. The trail is full of wildlife and historic sites, allowing you to take your time and enjoy multiple aspects of the Blue Ridge countryside. You can bring your own mountain bikes and safety gear or rent them at a number of locations along the way.

Ashe County Trout Stocking List - Our cabins are situated right along the banks of the North Fork of the New River. This stream as well as others within Ashe County are stocked with three varieties of Trout during the year, promising every fisherman and woman the opportunity for a catch. Be sure to bring your own tackle and gear if you intend to test the waters, as well as a camera to record your own personal River King Catch!
